The Anaheim Ducks’ Zamboni driver for the past 13 years has been killed in a motorcycle accident on the 105 freeway, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol said that Joel Francisco, 37, of Anaheim, died after his motorcycle hit a concrete barrier on the on-ramp to the 105 freeway from Imperial Highway. Francisco joined the Anaheim Ducks in 2000 and was the lead ice technician and Zamboni operator for the organization and Honda Center at the time of his death.
“Our entire organization was deeply saddened by the news of Joel’s passing,” said Tim Ryan, president and chief executive officer of the Honda Center. “He was an incredible member of our team, a true professional and his constant smile was well-known to his co-workers and Ducks fans everywhere.”
Francisco is survived by a son, 11, and a daughter, 6.
