A 44-year-old Costa Mesa man has died after being struck by a car in a Newport Beach pedestrian accident, according to a news report.
Newport Beach police said that the body of Darin Wells was found on southbound Newport Boulevard, just south of Industrial Way. He was hit by an Audi A3 sedan traveling south on Newport Boulevard; it was not known whether he was attempting to cross the roadway or was on the shoulder of the road when he was hit.
The unidentified woman driving the sedan was not injured and stayed at the scene; no arrest was made and investigators said she did not appear to be impaired. The investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident is ongoing.
