The city of Huntington Beach is being sued by the driver of a 2004 Jetta that was t-boned by an ambulance running without lights and sirens that ran a red light.
According to a news report, 29-year-old Adam Tomalas of Huntington Beach claims that a Huntington Beach ambulance ran the red light at Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Ave. and rammed into his car. Tomalas’ suit claims the ambulance was not running its lights or sirens prior to the crash.
The police report from the accident said that the ambulance driver told police he did not see the traffic signal because he was reading about the call he was headed to on the ambulance’s onboard computer. The call was a nonemergency call. Tomalas did not suffer any broken bones, but says he continues to suffer from muscle soreness and headaches from the accident earlier this year, and attends physical therapy three times a week.
