The area medical director for Orange County Kaiser Permanente is facing disciplinary action by the state medical board for allegedly failing to report incidences of sexual abuse of patients at the facility, according to a news report.
Dr. Edward Ellison has been accused of failing to notify the state within the required 15 days of disciplinary action taken against Dr. David Hung Do, who is currently facing criminal charges of sexual battery. Do’s medical license was revoked last April.
According to state medical board legal documents, Kaiser barred Do from seeing patients because of the allegations of sex abuse, but did not report it until nine months later. Dr. Lance Charles Brunner, chief of family medicine, is also facing disciplinary action by the state board for the same allegation of failing to report.
Kaiser officials have disputed the allegations, saying that a report on Do was filed as required by law.
