A 35-year-old man riding a scooter has been killed after colliding with a car in Costa Mesa, according to a news report.
Costa Mesa police said that Oscar Alaniz of Orange was riding a Honda 50c Ruckus scooter on Superior Avenue when he was struck by a Jaguar making a left turn onto Industrial Way. Investigators said that Alaniz entered the intersection on a green light; he was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where he died an hour later.
The Jaguar driver, identified as a 98-year-old woman, was not injured and stayed at the scene to speak with investigators.
