The crash of a small plane in Rancho Cucamonga that seriously injured its pilot has been blamed on engine failure, according to a news report.
Pilot Ethan Gadis, 22, of Glendora, was seriously injured after his Luscombe 8A plane made a forced landing in a field near Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga. The plane had just taken off from Cable Airport in Upland when it lost power, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.
The report said that Gadis attempted to restart the engine but was unsuccessful. He crash-landed the aircraft in a dirt lot in the 10800 block of Almond Street near Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga and was airlifted to a local hospital with severe injuries.
Gadis was the sole occupant of the single-engine plane.
