An 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in a car believed to be involved in a Westminster street race was killed after the car she was riding in drifted into oncoming traffic, according to a news report.
Police said that Jessica Dayoan, 18, a Golden West College freshman, died at the scene of the crash on Hoover Street south of Hazard Avenue in Westminster. Investigators said that it appears the car she was riding in, a Toyota MR-2 driven by her brother, 19-year-old Jorel Dayoun, was street racing with a dark-colored pickup truck when the Toyota drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with a Honda Accord.
Jorel Dayoun and the driver of the Accord were both hospitalized with injuries. Westminster police said they are examining surveillance video from nearby businesses to determine how the crash occurred. An anonymous tip led police to the dark-colored pickup truck in Garden Grove, but they have declined to reveal the identity of the driver.
