Two homeless women were struck and killed in an Anaheim crosswalk by a 17-year-old Santa Ana boy suspected of DUI, according to a news report.
Anaheim police said that Carol Shea, 66, and Hengameh Saghafi, 56, were in the crosswalk in the 1600 block of Harbor Boulevard when they were hit by a Chevrolet Astro van driven by the 17-year-old boy, whose name was not released.
Authorities said that one woman was thrown “a considerable distance” and the other came to rest in one of the northbound lanes of Harbor Boulevard. Both women died of multiple traumatic injuries.
Witnesses told police that there were several people in the van, but when police arrived, they found only the 17-year-old boy from Santa Ana, who told them he had been driving. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, causing a collision and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
